Northern Utah Academy of Math, Engineering, and Science High School -NUAMES
NUAMES is a new charter school that opened in 2004, during my Sophomore year. I would not trade the experiences I had for the world. I loved that the focus of the school was on Math, Engineering and Science, rather than sports activities. They kept the classes small, no more then 25 students per class. While each class was not listed as AP level, they were challenging as though they were.
I was the Class Secretary from May 2005 to May 2007, for my Junior and Senior Years. It was a lot of fun as we would participate in community projects, including the Kaysville July 4th Parade. We would plan out the Start of Semester, End of Semester and other assemblies. We coordinated all the dances and school activities. I would making sure we got the assembly room reserved. I would make or get the decorations and refreshments necessary for the dances.
I am proud to have been part of the first graduating class at NUAMES. I graduated with High Honors and also received the Utah Scholar Award. Around a quarter of my graduating class received either a Utah Scholars Award on top of their Diploma. It is a difficult award to achieve, but I enjoyed the challenge. I love my High School and the experiences I had. I am so glad that I was able to experience that.
