Learning Outside the Classroom
This is a sampling of the things that I am working on learning outside of the classroom. It can be a challenge with my schedule, but I enjoy being busy. I like to play video games, so I learn hand-eye coordination as well as noting the graphics that are used.
FE Exam - Preparing for the Future
The Fundamental of Engineering Exam is required for nearly every engineer. It is used to show the future engineer know what they are doing. It is vital to every future engineer and it is my top priority studying, outside of current classes or work.
Japanese - Foreign Language
While I did take a course in Salt Lake Community College to learn Japanese, I was not able to continues as it would not fit into my school schedule. However, I am practicing outside of school and trying to work on this skill as I am able too.
Herbology - Natural Healing
I am interested in herbal medicine as well. It is more natural and it is much safer then most people believe. Almost all medicine that is sold by the drug companies are derived from herbs. They just extract the compound they want. However, doing that gets rid of the natural check and balances that the herbs have, causing side effects. Also, modern medicine usually just treats the symptoms and does not find the root cause and cure the problem. So the drugs treat the symptoms, but give you side effects that are as bad or worse. This is why I am learning to make my own medicine and to help keep myself healthy.
Astronomy
I have always been fascinated in the stars and what is out there. I plan to get a Minor in Astronomy and Major in Mechanical Engineering. I may even do Astrophysics if it offered. That would be a lot of fun. One of the highest thing on my list of things to buy is a Telescope so I can gaze at the stars easier.
Philosophy
One of my teacher suggested a Philosophy book. He was so interested in the subject that I decided to take a look at it. It is a fascinating book, even if I am just making my way slowly through it.
